Things I do as an Intentional Mom

I'm not saying I'm a better mom than you, but I'm not not saying it either lol. Here are things I do as an intentional mom:
Plan my kids. I grew up around people who called their kids accidents and mistakes. This bothered me so I didn't have either of my kids until I wanted to try for them. I know not everyone can control it, but I honestly was open to an abortion if an accident happened at the wrong time (during college). This is why I understand the importance of access to safe abortions. It would be better for someone to get an abortion than to mess up a person who wasn't wanted. This is why we have so many messed up people... Okay getting off this soap box.
I covered my kids in prayer from the day I knew I was pregnant and every day of my life for the rest of my life. I pray that they are wise and have discernment to make the right friends/decisions, etc.
I wake up between 3-5 depending on the activities of the previous day to make time for me to have alone time, time with God, and time to build my business. Being able to knock off things on my personal to do list helps me to have more patience during the day. It helps me to live in the moment with my kids.
I go to the gym, a lot. I never want to be the kind of parent who just sits on the sofa, eating, scrolling, yelling, out of shape and patience. I want my kids to be healthier than me so I challenge myself to become the healthiest version of myself, without giving up everything I love to eat (ice cream, pizza, tacos, etc.). Being consistent in my workouts helps me to have energy to ....
Play WITH my kids. We are outside a lot. One comment a homeschooling mom told me that shifted my perspective: "There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes." I bought a ski suit for everyone in our family to continue outside fun during the winter. Go make memories with your kids, that don't even cost money. For example, we recently went to a furniture store just to play hide and seek.

I keep learning WITH my child. You might catch me reading a book while being a passenger seat princess or trying new recipes. I want her to enjoy learning like me so we make learning an esperience.
Prioritizing screen-free actitivities. Screen time is earned not a right! She has to complete a crazy amount of actitivies / work just to get 30 minutes of screentime. If you want to know more about this list, click here.
Teaching her life skills. Before my daughter turned 4 she knew how to read, write, tell time, and swim. I continuously teach her things that I wish I had learned in school and at home. It is important for her to know the value of a dollar and self care.

Holding her to a high standard. I set high expectations and tell her "God made you special", because I want her to be so confident and sure of herself, it makes it harder for the world to break her, as it does for Black girls and women.
Bragging on her when she's around and not around. I want her to hear me telling other people how awesome she is because it boosts her self-esteem and is positive reinforcement.
*Bonus* I say yes to opportunties to make her happy (especially if I hace time and its free. Sometimes its worth more to make the memories.
